DIY Memory Jars

Hey there, beauties!

Happy New Year’s Eve!  Can you believe we’re only a few hours away from 2016?! I cannot wait to see all of the amazing things that this year will bring!  The DIY I’ll be showing you today is the perfect way to save those memories in a jar so you will never forget them!  In my opinion, it is a little like a scrapbook except way quicker and simpler to make.  On top of being insanely easy to make, this craft is the perfect gift for anyone you know who cherishes their memories, too!

These jars are meant to be stuffed with any kinds of ticket stubs or even little papers you have written on with the date and the adventures you had that day.  I have kept a memory jars for two years now and you’d be surprised how quickly they fill up!  I love looking back on all of the fun times! I hope you all enjoy this craft as much as I do… Let’s begin!

What you’ll need:

  • A jar (The bigger the better -that way, you won’t run out of space!)
  • Paper or labels
  • A hot glue gun
  • Scissors
  • Stickers
  • Letters
  • Ribbon, string or twine
  • Washi tape (optional, but super cute!)
  • Memories, of course! 😉

With this DIY, how you decorate the jar is completely up to you, so there aren’t any specific steps to take.  If you wanted, you could even leave the jar plain, but I’ll show you how I decided to decorate mine!

I started by cutting some cute paper so that my jar had a label on the front.  I then stuck some of my letter stickers onto that paper and hot glued the pieces together.

I then hot glued those pieces onto my jar, gluing in sections so that it  didn’t dry before I could stick the paper down.

After that, I realized my paper was a bit short, so I decorated the sides with some sparkly washi tape that I’m obsessed with.  You can find adorable washi tape everywhere -keep your eyes peeled for it on the Target dollar aisle, because they always have really cute, cheap ones!  In fact, I found a lot of my decorations there, including my letter stickers!

I then decided my jar needed the year on it, so I hot glued the 2016 onto the front.

Of course, I had to also add a bow! I just tied some twine around the neck of the jar and hot glued it in place so it won’t be twisted at weird angles.

As for my next jar, the steps are pretty similar, I just hot glued all of the pieces on and used some different colors of washi tap over the label and also the lid.  I decided to switch things up a bit and add the stickers onto the lid of the jar.  I recommend hot gouging them down if you decide to do this so that they won’t come off when you open it to put your memories in.

To show the different ways you can fill these jars, I put some folded pieces of scrapbook paper in one jar and filled the other with all kinds of tickets that I’ve collected. If you’re an over achiever, you can use both papers and tickets in your jar!

And that, ladies and gents, is the finished project. I hope that you enjoyed and maybe try this project out yourself!  I think this is a great idea and super fun to look back on later in life!  I can’t wait for all the memories i’ll fill my jar up with this year!

Thanks so much for reading!  Talk to you next year!

Cozy Cable-Knit: A Fall to Winter OOTD

Hey there, loves!

The season of twinkly lights and coziness is upon us!   That means it’s time to break out those chunky sweaters and warm jackets!  I absolutely love all things about fall and winter.  In my opinion, this time of year is the best by far.  The Christmas decorations are already up in my house and I am listening to festive music at this very moment.   Of course, I had to include my merry Starbucks coffee that I was sipping while taking these cozy photos -it was keeping me warm in the freezing weather!

Today, I’m rocking a super cute and comfy outfit to get into the holiday mood, including some clothing pieces that were so kindly given to me by thredUp.  If you’ve never heard of it, it’s an awesome online place to shop for major deals on clothes and accessories!  Most prices are up to 90% off retail price, which is perfect for this gift giving season!  The Ann Taylor jacket that I am wearing today only cost me $50 compared to the original price of $228!  Also, I got a great deal on my cable-knit sweater from the Gap, which happened to inspire this ensemble!  I hope that you enjoy my wintery outfit of the day and it sends rays of coziness to you through the screen.

While the exact pieces I discovered on thredUp aren’t available any longer, I did find some pretty similar items for the sweater and coat!  You can also check out thredUp for yourself and find some treasures of your own for this cozy weather!  They have a huge assortment of clothes to choose from and you can specify what condition you’d prefer.  Both items I received were brand new with the tags attached!  It’s a great website if you like quality, name brand clothes with better prices. On top of all that, they’re a brand that’s great for the environment since they’ve upcycled 12 million items and saved them from going into the trash!

With fall approaching fast, I’ve been very excited about infinity scarves, boots, and sweaters!  Autumn is my favorite season since I love the fashion, food, and the weather!  Even the makeup during this season is something I look forward to!  I’ve put together a neutral fall-inspired outfit that is very cute and casual for everyday wear.  Every piece in this outfit is a basic staple for the fall season and goes perfectly with the pop of color from the infinity scarf!  This is a typical outfit that I would wear on a cool fall day and I hope that you enjoy it!

Matte Lips 101 | Prevent Creasing and Flaky Skin

Hey there, lovelies!

With the Fall season coming up, I’ve been getting very excited about matte, Kylie Jenner-esque lipsticks!  If you have dry, chapped lips like me, you’ll know how much of a struggle it is to have matte lipstick look halfway decent and not settle into all the lines and flaky skin!  I’ve discovered a few things which make applying matte lipsticks SO much easier for me and today, I’d like to share them with you!

1. Exfoliate

IMG_5035IMG_5724 (1)IMG_6652-1
This may be the most important step!  If your lips are not exfoliated, the lipstick will make your lips look like a chapped mess.  I have a bit of trouble with flaky lips, so I regularly use Lush’s Bubblegum Lip Scrub, which smells absolutely amazing!  Also, I make my own DIY lip scrub that is super easy to make and happens to smell wonderful as well!

2. Moisturize

Matte lip products will suck all the moisture out of your lips, so it’s very necessary to use some sort of lip balm before applying your lipstick!  This will prevent your lips from getting dried out underneath the matte lip product.  I absolutely LOVE Lush’s Ultrabalm and highly recommend it for anyone with dry, flaky skin!  This product can be used on the lips or any troubled, dry areas.  It’s very soothing and locks in moisture like no other product I’ve ever used!

3. Prime

When applying any sort of lip product, it is very helpful to prep your lips with a thin layer of concealer or just plain old face primer.  Lip primers also exist, but I don’t think they are necessary when some of the products you probably already own will do the trick!  This will make the lipstick last longer, show the true color of the product more, and make the application easier.  I like to use Urban Decay’s Naked Skin Concealer or Smashbox’s Photo Finish Primer.  You’ll be amazing at how much more smoothly the lipstick will apply with such a great base!

4. Line

Lining your lips with make the application of your lipstick SO much cleaner, easier, and more precise.  It will prevent any bleeding or smudging of product and also increase the lasting power!  I am using my L’oreal Infallible Lip Liner in Rose, but I also recommend Makeup Forever’s Lip Line Perfector, since it is clear and works with any color of lip product.  It’s absolutely amazing at keeping your lipstick in place and preventing any bleeding of product!  It really does perfect the lips!  I think it’s a great investment if you’re into lip products and want something to make them last all day and look amazing!

5. Conceal

After applying your matte lipstick of choice (Some of my fave’s are Gerard Cosmetic’s Serenity and Kat Von D’s Lovecraft) using a concealer brush or any small, precise brush you own, sharpen the edges of your lips and clean up any mistakes you may have made with some concealer.  This will really finish off your lips and make them look perfect!  Again, I’m using my trusty ol’ Naked Skin Concealer with a BareMinerals Concealer Brush.

Thanks so much for reading!  What are some of your tips for flawless matte lips? (Yes, that rhyme makes me very happy)

DIY Lip Scrub | Lush Dupe

Hello, lovelies!

Today, I will be showing you a super simple DIY lip scrub that I love!  It is made with household ingredients, so it is very convenient and cheap!  I love Lush’s lip scrubs as much as the next girl, but I actually prefer the ones I make myself and they are way cheaper since they’re homemade! This scrub smells amazing and is adjustable to whatever you might have on hand. Enjoy!

You will need:

  • 1 TBSP Brown (or white) sugar
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 tsp coconut oil (or olive oil)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

IMG_5691 (1) IMG_5697 IMG_5698

Simply mix all of the ingredients together and feel free to adjust the amounts of ingredients to your liking until you get the perfect consistency and sugar-to-oil ratio.  Then pop the mixture into some cute containers and get scrubbing!

IMG_5700 (1)IMG_5715IMG_5732 (2)IMG_5727 (1)IMG_5724 (1)IMG_5719=

The sugar scrub will exfoliate all of the dead, flaky skin off of your lips, while the coconut oil moisturizes.  The honey gives the scrub a nice texture and scent and the cinnamon will increase blood flow to your lips causing them to be plumper after using the scrub!  The vanilla is optional along with the cinnamon, but I really recommend adding this to your scrub since it makes it smell SO amazing.

I hope that you all enjoy this simple DIY and try it out yourself!  It is my favorite lip scrub and I think you’ll love it, too!  Thanks for reading!

Super Cute DIY Room Decor // Chalkboard Signs and Banners

~Hello, Lovelies!~

I have been planning this post for a while and have not had the time to actually write it… since Christmas actually.. heh  I will be posting more often when life slows down a little, but for now, my posts will probably be very inconsistent… I could promise to post every week and be super productive, but then I probably wouldn’t and hopes would be up for nothing.  I shall not raise hopes to only crush them and so, my realistic promise is to post once a month until summer, when I will go blog crazy and put all my effort into creating good, quality posts. *takes a deep breath*  Anyway, now, I will show you my creation!

Today, I will be showing you how to make a chalkboard arrow sign!  So, if you’re all about dat DIY life, I hope that you’ll enjoy this post and maybe be inspired to make one of these arrows yourself! 🙂

Step one:  Buy an arrow!  I got mine from Ben Franklin.

Step two:  Obtain thyself a brush and some chalkboard paint.

Step three: Paint the arrow with the chalkboard paint. (p.s. don’t forget to cover thy surface so you don’t enrage thy mother).

Step four:  Let the paint dry and set for the amount of time instructed on your bottle… or don’t… like me.  Everything worked out in the end, though!  My bottle said to let it set for hours in between, but I do not have that much patience when it comes to watching paint dry..  It’s very boring.  (Although I really strongly recommend starting with a white coat of paint or a primer if you try this yourself, because this paint was hard to build up at first).  Then, continue to add coats until the paint is as opaque as you would like.  I know mine looks extremely light right now, but I promise, it eventually builds up.  I gave mine about four coats and let them set for about 15 minutes to a half an hour in between, depending on how patient I was at the moment.

Step Six:  Cry tears of joy that the stupid chalkboard paint has finally had enough coats to be opaque. Then, once the paint and your tears have dried, clean your brush and begin putting mod podge on the edges of your arrow.  I chose to put mine only on the rim of it, but not the whole edge, because I covered that part in tape later, but you can put the mod podge wherever your heart desires… as long as you want the sparkles there later, because otherwise, it would be pointless.  I recommend working in sections so the glue doesn’t dry.

Step 8:  Once your whole arrow is besparkled to your desired amount of glittery perfection, let it dry for 15-20 minutes, then seal it in with another coat of mod podge.  Don’t worry, the sparkles will still be shiny when it dries, even though it looks like you are destroying all of the beautiful work you have just accomplished at first.

Step Nine:  If you have glittered the entire side, you are finished!  But I chose to add some patterned tape that I got from the Target dollar aisle (AKA heaven on earth).  I love the way this finished it off and made it look so much more clean.  I think adding the tape is a good idea because of the sharp lines it gives.  It covered all the mistakes I made AND it made it look super cute.  This tape is just perfect and that’s all there is to it.

TADAAA *Jazz Hands*  Now, we have successfully finished our arrow sign!  I wrote a cute saying about arrows on mine, because it’s an arrow, so I mean.. I had to. 🙂  I am obsessed with it!  I set it in my room and I never get tired of looking at it!

I hope that you all enjoyed seeing this little project that I did!  I am really happy with how it turned out AND it was super inexpensive!  Thank you so much for reading!  I am sending you all hugs through the screen and I hope you have a wonderful day. :3

#OOTD – My Comfy and Cute Outfit of the Day!

~ Hello again, Lovelies! ~

I went shopping recently and got inspired to put together an outfit that’s perfect for the transition from Summer to Fall! It’s cute, comfy and super affordable!  I will have all of the items and where I got them listed at the end of this post! Enjoy! 🙂

This outfit is perfect for the beginning of fall, because it looks cute and put together, with or with our the sweater, depending on how warm it is.  Also, it’s SO. COMFY.  It feels like walking around in pajamas!  Another reason it’s perfect for this season is that the sweater isn’t so hot that you would usually need to take it off, because it’s a knitted material that’s really breathable.  This would allow you to wear it in school or other places, so if you wanted to cover your bootay while wearing leggings, you could, without suffocating in the heat of a huge fuzzy sweater. 🙂

IMG_9476 IMG_9468IMG_9473

Now, I’m going to walk through each piece of this outfit with you guys and show y’all some pictures that I took of them!

Let’s start with the tank top! I bought this at Forever 21 and I’m in love with it!  It’s a patterned black and white/cream racerback. It is SO. SOFT.  I was super excited when I found this!  It’s cute and comfortable! It goes perfectly alone when it’s hot out and looks AMAZING, when layered with sweaters, so I’l be wearing this all year round. 🙂 Agh, I just love it!

Overtop of that tank, I wore a beige knit sweater from Aeropostale. Again, cute and comfy!  This is my favorite sweater I’ve ever owned!  I was so excited that I finally had a cute outfit to pair it with!

The pants I wore with this outfit are black leggings, which I purchased from PINK.  Again, they are comfortable and cute, sticking with the theme of everything else in this outfit!

Now, of course, I needed some shoes to wear and I recently purchased some very cute sandals from Target (a.k.a my home away from home).  They are brown leather with pretty gold accents around the ankle, which make them look so fancy! (but don’t get too excited, the gold stuff is just flimsy plastic)  The first time I ever put these on to wear -which was today- one of the straps on one of the sandals broke, which I wasn’t very happy about as they are brand new, but they still work fine and it will be easily fixable.  I guess that’s why they only cost $11! Oh, well. *sighs* I’m still happy to have them. 🙂  It might seem weird that I hung them in a tree for a picture, but hey, hanging things in trees always makes a picture look fancy, so that’s what I did. 😉

Now, onto the accessoriessss!

On my head, I am wearing a bright coral headband, which I purchased from Charming Charlie’s.  I love how it crosses at the top, giving it a little more interest than a regular flat headband! 🙂

Around my neck, I am wearing one of my absolute favorite necklaces!  I purchased this last weekend, at Charlotte Russe and it was the very last one, so it was obviously meant to be! 🙂

Find all of the items I wore here:

Necklace – $6 at Charlotte Russe (They don’t have the exact same one on their website, but this one is almost the same)

Headband – $8 at Charming Charlie (Again, no exact match anymore, but they have REALLY cute head wraps that are the same style, just different colors.  Another similar headband is –> this)

Tanktop – $9.80 at Forever 21

Knit Sweater – $28.00 at Aeropostale (Not the exact sweater, but a very close match)

Leggings – $19.50 at PINK

Sandals – $11.48 at Target

Thank you SO much for reading!  I hope that you’ve enjoyed my outfit of the day!  I love you all!
